American Children Photographs By Lewis Hine
Stunning shots of life of American children from Master Lewis Hine photographer. Lewis Hine was born in Oshkosh Wisconsin. As a boy he worked long hours at the factory, directly perceiving what later became the photograph. He studied at the school of his native city, and then at the University of Chicago and New York University, where he received his master’s degree.

I am Joe Manning, an author and historian. For the past five years I have been tracking down and interviewing the descendants of some of the child laborers that Lewis Hine photographed.
