Since the early prototypes, the hood Volga decorated figure frozen in a dynamic pose of the deer.  The choice of this animal as a heraldic emblem had deep roots – deer have long been depicted on the arms of Nizhny Novgorod.  Stylized nakapotnaya figure was the traditional emblems for cars as a proportion of animals and pose. Since the appearance of “Volga” it nakapotnaya figure became very popular, and often there were cases of stealing statues from the bonnet of the car with the purpose of sale or a kind of “collectibles”.  Therefore, and because of its high cost and – most important – traumatic, in the late fifties to put a figure of a deer stopped to export cars and taxis, replacing it with the “drop” – collapsible elongated streamlined shape.
